Beverly Pepper was born on December 20th. She's an artist who switched from painting to sculpture and then further pushed herself into site specific work.
She is definitely a terrific role model for artists having an exhibition career spanning from the early 1950's to today. I especially love her land based sculptures where she uses the industrial steel to push and manipulate the land.
Her quotes, like the one below, eloquently describe the artistic experience.
I go to my studio every day. Some days the work comes easily. Other days nothing happens. Yet on the good days the inspiration is only an accumulation of all the other days, the nonproductive ones. ~Beverly Pepper
