Lillian Bassman was born on June 15th. She was an amazing fashion photographer who worked at Harper's Bazaar in the 40's-60's.
Her photographs are unique in that there were few female photographers at that time, so she was able to capture the models in a more comfortable state. Lillian was also skilled in the darkroom where she manipulated her images by blurring and bleaching them.
I can't get enough of her compositions and contrast. She manages to abstract the figure while also bringing feeling and personality to the subject.
