It's the final week of the boys summer break and our last art project of the season. This week we did the blotted line printmaking that Andy Warhol used.
Andy enjoys birding so we used a stack of bird images as our content. In this post you can see the original way Warhol did the blotted line technique. It included tracing paper and india ink.
In order to use what we already had, and make the project move along faster for the kids, I swapped the tracing paper for sheet protectors. This allowed us to skip the entire tracing step. I also replaced the ink applied with a pen to fine brushes and colored printmaking ink. Here's how it turned out:
