Donate Your Pussy Hat

The Pussy Hat Project was a big deal for so many reasons. For artists and crafters there came an additional sense of pride and excitement in using our skills to make a strong statement and unify people. Now there are opportunities to take that a step further.

The first of three hats I made for women who marched!

The Fuller Craft Museum in Massachusetts is looking for pussy hat donations to include in their permanent collection! You can find all the details in the link. The director of the Museum explained

“The hats are these great symbols of resistance and these icons of protest, people speaking out,” says McLaughlin, who ordered her own hat from Etsy (“I’m actually not a crafter”). “They’re like these magical icons.”

Over on the Craftivism blog, there's a follow up project in the works titled "Hide a Hat, Fight Back". Artisans are encouraged to use the little scraps of pink yarn they have left to make mini pink hats, hide the hat in public (or mail it) and attach a card directing the recipient to post their found hat on social media. Their motto is "The cure for anxiety is action."
