Off The Needles This Week
This week, I finished the shawl/scarf I was working on, cast on some mukluks, and prepared some vacation knitting.
Above, is the shawl/scarf I've been working on. As mentioned here, this was a really fun and easy pattern. I love how it turned out and really like how it wears. It's the perfect size for how I'd like to wear it as a scarf. I think the colors looks so beautiful with a nice depth of color. I did make one change to the pattern. In that the pattern called for the multi-color yarn for the border but I wanted it to be the teal and balance out the beautiful ribbing down the center.
Of course, Rocket had to pose on it....*sigh* every time!
I then cast on the above mukluk pattern I found on Ravelry. I know, I know, I posted several upcoming projects in last weeks post but this mukluk pattern was the last one in my queue to finish before I jump into those new projects. It's my first real color work pattern, and it'll be my first time working an "after thought heel" so I'm very excited.
I'm flying out of town and am nervous about taking metal needles on the plane with me, even though it often works out for other knitters. I could conceivably take the mukluk project with me since they're on wood DPN's however this project might require a bit more attention than I'd want to give something on vacation. Especially, since I want to do more sketching than knitting while out of town. So, I got myself some wood circular so I don't have to worry at all about TSA taking my needles, and cast on some socks with yarn I wrote about last week.
The toes and heels will be in the lilac/gray color and the body of the sock in that gorgeous red.
My progress keepers are a kangaroo (with a baby in the pouch) and a vintage sewing machine <3.
