Happy Birthday: Anna Hyatt Huntington

Anna Hyatt Huntington was an influential American figurative and animal sculptor who was born on March 10th.

Ann Hyatt Huntington was active in the early 20th century. She is most well known for her large sculptures and monuments of animals. She was incredibly skilled at capturing movement, intention, anatomy while providing dynamic compositions.

Her father was a zoology professor at Harvard and MIT and taught her about animal anatomy.  She lived an amazing life creating an impressive career for herself. Check out all the sculptures she has sprinkled around NYC.

She married Archer Huntington when she was 47 and together they supported museums and founded the Brookgreen Gardens in South Carolina.

She's even inspired some books:

I personally love all the images of her with her sculptures.
