Happy Birthday: Betty Woodman

Betty Woodman was a potter turned painter born on May 14th.

She started her career in production pottery in the 1950’s and after decades of hard work became the first living female artist with a solo show at the Met in 2006!

I really like the playful energy of her work and her bold combination of painting, installation, and pottery.

“A lot of art is made to raise your consciousness about the horrors of the world, but that isn’t what I’m doing. Beauty is a very important part of my work. I want to seduce myself.” ~Betty Woodman
